It doesn't limit the goodbye itself, though. A home ceremony before collection, or a graveside service in the garden, is always possible where local rules allow.

Before you plan a graveside ceremony in the garden or a scattering on a favorite walk, check the local rules. They're mostly about protecting water and other people's land, so they focus on depth, distance from wells and streams, and permission from whoever owns the land. In France, your vet will usually offer individual or collective cremation; only individual returns the ashes. If your dog or cat was identified, the death should be recorded in the national I-CAD register. France also has a long pet-cemetery tradition, including the historic dog cemetery at Asnières-sur-Seine outside Paris, and many towns have a cimetière animalier nearby.

Can a provider from a neighbouring town collect from Saint-Tropez?
